Lightning Carnivals

Students from six local primary schools, Merrimac, Miami, Broadbeach, Caningeraba, Burleigh Heads and Robina participate in a fun round robin soccer and netball competition at Merrimac SHS. Merrimac SHS PE students manage and coach the teams as well as refereeing all games. This year, Year 6 students have their carnival on the 10 May while the Year 5 students attend on 23 May.

Aladdin - Our Musical

Merrimac High School presents our 2012 musical, Aladdin on Friday 25 May at the Arts Centre, Gold Coast. Please see our Aladdin Flyer for further information.

Earn and Learn 2012

Merrimac High is participating in Woolworths Earn and Learn for 2012. From the 9 May students and community members can start collecting stickers when shopping at Woolworths. Stickers are placed on Sticker Cards and can be placed in the collection box at the school tuckshop or at our local woolworths store. We will be in the running to win great prizes and resources for our students.

Chappy Week

From 20 May to 27 May Schools across Queensland will be celebrating Chappy Week- raising awareness and support for the service that Chaplaincy provides our state schools. Merrimac High will be kicking off the week with a guest performance from local Mt Tamborine artist Aaron Parry, who is a young singer/songwriter/guitarist in the music industry. Throughout Chappy Week there will be ‘Chappy Sticks’ (chapsticks) for sale to raise funds to keep our service running 5 days per week. There will be a HUGE breakkie on Friday morning, with pancakes, juice, toast, cereal, music, special guests and more!

Yr 7 into Yr 8 2013 Enrolment Information Evening

Merrimac State High School will be holding an Information Evening for Parents of students entering Year 8 in 2013. Find out about the Year 8 curriculum and beyond. Meet with administrative and teaching staff. The details of the evening are as follows:

Ks4Kids

Ks4Kids fundraising beach walk is on again- Saturday 2nd June 2012! We are trying to make this day bigger and better than ever before! So grab your friends and family, sign up online at www.ks4kids.org.au and 'join existing team' Merrimac SHS. Its only $10 if you register before 20 May ($20 for adults), which gives you a free T Shirt, food and water, free bus back to your preferred starting area, BBQ, carnival games and entry into raffles for major and minor prizes.

Early Flyers Workshop

Merrimac High School 'Early Flyers' program is suitable for Year 5 & 6 primary school students who would like to be challenged in Academics, High Performance Sport or Performing Arts. This free workshop will be held at Merrimac High on Friday 15 June 2012. Scholarships are also available by participating in the program. Extension programs offering exciting learning opportunities and challenges for talented Year 8 students in - ACADEMIC STUDIES | HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT | PERFORMING ARTS. Scholarships Yr 7 into Yr 8 2013

Merrimac SHS is pleased to offer scholarships to students entering Year 8 in 2013. Academic, Sport, Drama, Dance, Singing and Instrumental Music Scholarships are available. Scholarship applications have now closed. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application prior to the end of June, 2012.

Laptop Take Home Fees Due

Thank you for participating in the 2012 take home laptop program. All invoicing for the program this year has been calculated on a pro rata basis until the 30th June 2012. This means a portion of your total payment will be allocated to the program and the balance held in credit until the next invoice period in June 2012.
Example: Invoiced 01/02/2012 $61.00 until 30/06/2012
Invoiced 30/06/2012 $150.00 until 30/06/2013
