With a student population of almost 1300 students it is quite possible to feel lonely and lost. To this end, Merrimac SHS has established networks of support personnel who provide different levels of support for the individual needs of students. Specialist pastoral support within the school exists in the form of:

  • Form teacher
  • Guidance Counsellor
  • School Nurse
  • Youth Support Co-Ordinator
  • Youth Pathways Officer
  • Chaplain
  • Home Stay Co-ordinator
  • Industry Liaison Officer

In addition, there is also provision for academic support in the form of:

  • Year co-ordinator at each year level
  • Deputy Principal for each year level
  • Behaviour Management Support
  • English as a Second Language Support
  • Special Needs staff
  • Teacher Aides

All students and their parents have an open invitation to discuss issues of personal, career or educational concern with the specially trained support staff. Merrimac is a futures driven school which recognises the importance of holistic development of all our students in the present to best cope with the demands of their future.
