Merrimac State High School

Our school community ranges from Mermaid Waters which is on our doorstep, right up north to Helensvale, to the hinterland of Canungra and to the southern border of Tugun. This is pure testimony that Merrimac is for many students a school of choice.

Merrimac’s student population is represented by 36 nationalities other than Australian.

• 77.7% of the residents in the Merrimac Catchment area are born in Australia.
• The top five birthplaces of people born outside of Australia are: New Zealand, United Kingdom and Ireland, Europe, South East Asia and North East Asia
• 80% of the residents speak English only at home
