Merrimac State High School

Merrimac’s Industrial Technology & Design Department’s ‘Tech Room’ houses a 3-axis electronic circuit board mill, 4 Axis Mill, Vinyl Sign Cutter and a 3D Laser Scanner for the creation of new proto types and models of future and existing products.

The room shall also be the home for Computer Controlled Systems (Lego Techniques) and Electronics. This Tech Room ensures Merrimac State High School students have access to the most up-to-date industry standard equipment available in any Queensland High School. Already our students involved in the Australia wide Solar Boat Challenge have been able to make use of the MDX-540 mill to cut out their boat hull. The Federal government's "Investing in our School's Program" has provided the funding for this Tech Room which will be recognised in a ceremony at Merrimac SHS on Wednesday, 25 March 2009.
