Everyone at school has close and immediate access to a welcoming and well organised collection of library resources that is appropriate to their educational needs and interests. The library is open every school day.

Aims of the library

  • To support the educational goals of the school and promote life-long independent learning
  • To support the teaching and learning of students through the provision of relevant materials
  • To work co-operatively with teachers and students in developing and implementing information literacy skills
  • To provide students with relevant resources so as to nurture their love of reading


The library is the school’s information centre and uses collaborative strategies to integrate the process of learning across the curriculum. In this environment, the staff of the school library resource centre works with teachers and school management to provide:
  • Students with learning contexts, processes and skills as well as opportunities for personal growth and fulfilment
  • Teachers with the support they need to develop information-literate students
  • Resources to cater for curriculum needs
  • The services and technologies needed to gain maximum access to information
  • Advice in personal selection of reading resources
