The canteen is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 2.00pm. EFTPOS facilities are available for students and the early start makes it possible for students to purchase breakfast at school.
The canteen operates under the guidance of Queensland Health and Education Queensland and has implemented the Smart Choices Healthy Food and Drink Strategy at the school. The canteen offers students two red food days each term with the rest of our trading days offering green and amber foods only.
Green foods are an excellent source of nutrients, are low in saturated fat, sugar and salt and are chosen to avoid an intake of excess energy. Some green foods include bread, cereals, rice, pasta, noodles, fruit, lean meat, poultry and eggs. Green foods at the canteen are generally less expensive than amber foods that have moderate amounts of saturated fat, sugar or salt.
Some examples of amber foods at the canteen include full fat dairy foods, savoury commercial products, processed meats, snack food bars, muffins, ice blocks and potato wedges.
All profits from the Canteen are donated to the P&C and are used to finance various school projects.
Students are encouraged to discuss their dietary requirements with staff and special orders are catered for, as requested.
