The Merrimac Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association recognises that parents and caregivers have an important role to play in enhancing and enriching the educational and social environment that will shape the lives of our future citizens. P&C meetings provide community members with the forum to voice their opinions and exercise their rights and responsibilities for supporting staff, students and other parents, as we work together to create an inclusive centre for educational excellence.
The P&C Association aims to foster communication between school and parents, and to assist both parents and staff to better understand and meet the needs of students. Parents and other interested community members are warmly welcomed to become active members of the Merrimac State High School community. Increasingly, parents and citizens play an important role on various committees, and in the management and development of the school's activities.
Some of the acitivites that Merrimac P&C Association oversee and assist with include:
- Development of school facilities
- Fundraising
- Other matters from time to time.
The P&C Association support students competing in extracurricular activities at a State Title or higher level of competition or non-sporting events where students represent Merrimac State High School.
Meetings are held at 6.30pm on Tuesday evenings at regular times throughout the year as advertised, in the Hospitality Centre. All parents are encouraged to come along. If you would like further information regarding this support please contact the school or email the P&C directly.
