Cairns

Students have the opportunity to visit Cairns in September where they experienced life on a
cattle station, the beauty of the Daintree Rainforest and snorkelling on The Great Barrier Reef.

Numinbah

Every year we visit the Numinbah Environmental Centre up in the Springbrook National Park.
Whilst there  students get the opportunity to meet some of our wildlife up close and also walk
for two hours through the beautiful rainforests whilst learning about the ecology of the environment.

These excursions enable our International students to experience both the wildlife and culture
of both Queensland and Australia.  In school many students enrol in our Australian Studies option.
In this subject students get to learn about the history of Australia and Indigenous culture and traditions.

Heron Island

Heron Island is a pristine marine reserve that Merrimac students are lucky enough to visit every year.
Students are able to safely snorkel with sharks, turtles, manta rays and a whole variety of topical reef fish whilst enjoying the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.
Located on the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, Heron Island remains one of the premier dive sites in the world that features in a series by David Attenborough.

This excursion is provided to students who study Aquatic Practices and takes place in Term Two.
