Merrimac State High School has a new School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN).
Richelle is at the school most Mondays.
Richelle is part of an SBYHN Team that also supports health promotion and education within classrooms in the areas of: Sexual Health, Mental Health, Negotiating Sex Safely, Respectful Relationships across public High Schools on the Gold Coast.
The SBYHN role at the school is to support students and their families around issues such as:
• Sexual Health
• Relationships
• Growth and Development
• Drugs and Alcohol
• Contraception and STIs
• Hygiene
• Mental Health
• Personal and Family Problems
• Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
Richelle can be found in O Block communications, room Z016 and students can be referred to the SBYHN through any school staff. Students can also drop in to see Richelle on a Monday by presenting to the student services window and making an enquiry.
The SBYHN is employed by QLD Health to support young people navigate teen years safely and provides a confidential service for young people.
