What is Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS)
This learning pathway for Years 10, 11 and 12 students, may be undertaken during senior secondary. Programs are funded or fee for service accredited courses; delivered by registered training providers (RTOs). On completion, students attain a nationally recognised qualification (credit variation to Queensland Certificate of Education QCE).
How Can Year 10-12 Students Participate in VET?
- VETiS funded Certificate I or II courses: (one time funded, pathways or industry introduction programs; approx. 6-12 months duration depending on the qualification)
- VET fee for service Certificate III, IV or Diploma courses: (course fees payable to the training provider on enrolment; approx. 12-24 months duration dependent on the qualification)
- School-based Apprentice or Traineeships (SATs): (traditional trade or service industry 'earning and learning' contracts; senior students combine individual school timetable, attend workplace for paid work, and, a Certificate III industry qualification linked to the industry or job)
What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
This national, individual, education identifier is created by your student online prior to enrolment in and issue of qualifications by registered training organisations in Australia (including TAFE and universities).
